Antigua to Tefia
A short journey in the centre of Fuerteventura, travelling through a couple of small villages and taking in a mirador.
For this journey, we took a slightly longer route, taking the FV-416, going through Llanos de La Concepcion, then the FV-207. It starts just as you leave Antigua, and ends just before Tefia, at the turning for Los Molinos.
Obviously the video is speeded up! In real time, this drive takes just under 15 minutes.
Starting in Antigua head north on the FV-20. Just before leaving town, turn left on to the FV-416 signposted for Betancuria. This is a smallish turning so be careful not to miss it! Take the next right hand turn, keeping on the FV-416.
At the roundabout turn right on to the FV-30, signposted for Puerto del Rosario. After about 450m you will find the Mirador del Valle de Santa Inés with its views along down the valley. Situated at the mirador is a sculpture of a hiker and his son.
Carrying on following the LV-30 down into the valley and you arrive at the small village of Valle de Santa Inés. If you’re ready for a break you’ll find a cafe and also a restaurant in the centre of the village where you can get a cup of coffee, or if it’s a hot day, perhaps a cerveza sin alcohol (non alcoholic beer).
After Valle de Santa Inés the next village you come to is Llanos de la Concepcion.
When you get to the roundabout, turn left on to the FV-207, signposted for Tefia and La Oliva.
When you arrive in Tefia turn left on to the FV-221, signposted Los Molinos. After a short distance turn right on to a track at the sign for ‘Albergue de Tefia’. There you will see a traditional windmill. Behind the windmill is the old prison, part of which is now used as a village hall.
Carry on along the track, following it round to the right at the bottom, which will bring you back to the main FV-207 again.
On the right-hand side corner of the road you will arrive at the Ecomuseo de la Alcogida, a museum full of history.
Turning left on to the FV-207, after a short distance you will see another traditional type of windmill on the corner.
